User Access & Permissions

User Roles

Currently, all users have the same view and edit permissions. As a TATOR user, you can create and edit bounding boxes, generate and download clips, view Sealog event/ROV sensor data in real-time, utilize the results of ML models, and explore the entire catalog of SOI video footage from various R/V Falkor (too) cruises. However, users cannot delete any imagery or footage from TATOR (and should not attempt to!), delete/modify any existing Sealog event/ROV sensor data, or run your own ML models on the existing footage. While you cannot run your own ML models, there are already some running in the background and you can utilize their outputs, explained further here.

In the future, we intend to craft different levels of permissions in TATOR to enable you to harness the full potential of this annotation tool. Please stay tuned for further updates.

Access Requests

If you are a new user and would like access to TATOR, you will need to complete the Access Request Form. Before filling out the form, we recommend you have your preferred email address, ORCID ID (if applicable), and Sealog username (if applicable). Please note that whichever email address you provide will be used for your TATOR account, even if it does not align with your ORCID email.

Please find the Access Request Form here. Once submitted, please wait 3-5 business days to gain access. If you haven’t heard back, please contact us at datasystems@schmidtocean.org.

Data Security & Privacy Policy

TATOR has published a Privacy Policy that describes how your user data is collected and used in the platform. Please find it here.

TATOR has also published an article detailing their data security procedures. Please find it here.
