How to Annotate

Let’s walk through an example of using TATOR!

First, let’s log into TATOR.

Here we use the ORCID login. If you do not have an ORCID login, you should be provided a TATOR login. For help logging in, please contact datasystems@schmidtocean.org.

Now let’s find a video to annotate.

Here we click through the folders. As mentioned in the Navigating SOI TATOR article, the higher level folders will appear empty until clicked into the final two layers of sub-folders.

Now that we’ve picked a video to annotate, let’s see if we find anything!

We found an invertebrate! We also picked a good frame of it.

Let’s create a bounding box now.

We gave it a high-level categorization of an invertebrate.

Finally, let’s find our annotation and add a scientific name.

The field automatically updates once we click away. In addition to scientific name, we can also categorize our annotation based on morphology from the SMarTar-ID classification (if it is an invertebrate).
